ARTIST IN RESIDENCY 2003
“For 8 weeks I worked, together with 3 other international artists, in the very north of Scotland at North Lands Creative Glass. During the residency I became inspired and intrigued by the forces that have shaped the Caithness landscape and by how the people are connected to the land and have left their marks on the land. I looked at the marks they have left in the landscape through time; the paths, roads and the ruins of crofts.. These marks hold many different stories; you get a sense of many layers of time floating in each place. I have brought my glass objects into these spaces to interact with the history of the place and to create new images. These are the images that resulted from my quest”. December 2003 |
